Parents are a valued resource, whether they are sharing their talents and expertise or providing an extra set of hands. Typically we ask for help with staff appreciation events; fundraising; event hospitality; community outreach; book fairs; class picture days; our annual silent auction; field trips; and in the classroom. After you provide all state-required clearances (see below), you can sign up to volunteer GLPK Volunteer Form and we will contact you. Parents are welcome to visit their child’s classes at each teacher's discretion. Teachers and aides are asked not to confer with parents during class, but rather to plan a visit or schedule a meeting outside of school hours.
Pennsylvania laws require our school to have three clearances on file BEFORE you volunteer:
Each spring we ask businesses and individuals to consider donating goods, services, or gift certificates which are subsequently
auctioned off over a two-week period in May to the highest bidders. Proceeds will go to the GLPK general fund for tuition
assistance and to purchase unbudgeted items to support the many projects and programs our children enjoy at school.
Donations are welcome in the school office during April.
Begun in the late 1990s in memory of Adam J. Cocolin, the late son of church members Bill and Linda Cocolin (a former teacher at our preschool), our annual golf outing is a fun way to raise funds to help lower-income families bridge the gap between the cost of preschool and what they can afford. All proceeds support tuition assistance. GOLF PDF with Registration Form
Some teachers request a ‘classroom grandparent’ to provide another loving heart, an extra set of experienced hands, or to read to students periodically in a classroom. These volunteer ‘grandparents’ must present the required federal and state clearances and receive training before volunteering in our school (see Required Clearances and Training, above).
